About Us

Spirals was born from our passion for beautiful handmade things that didn’t cost the earth – right from the start we wanted to fill our shop with unique clothing, jewellery and homewares that were ethically traded. For us this means that all our products are ethically sourced. We have many Fairtrade products and many of our long standing suppliers are registered with BAFTS - the British Assocation for Fairtrade shops.

We also stock products made in the UK which are earth friendly, many of them made in or near Hebden Bridge. This includes items made using reclaimed timber, natural skincare products, and work by designers using recycled materials.

Spirals is home to a growing collection of local art and design, with the Artroom gallery at its heart. You will find local artists’ work as well as work from further afield throughout our store.

We are proud to be part of our community by working with and promoting local groups and events such as Happy Valley Pride and Hebden Bridge Arts Festival and Open Studios. We sell products in store that support the Watermark Fund set up after the devastating floods of 2015.

As a company we try and do what we can to be 'green' and also to contribute to our local community as well as the wider world. We only use recycled packaging and paper, and are working hard to reduce our plastic usage.
